Simon Brown.

Simon Brown is based in Sydney, Australia and graduated with a Diploma of Fine Arts at the Meadowbank TAFE Sydney Gallery School in 2013. After exploring other career paths as a creative, Simon has been painting for the last 5 years and held a solo exhibition and been included in numerous group exhibitions around Australia.

Simon is drawn to the challenge of breaking down luminous layers in his works of realism and the notion that depth is lost in the transferral of photographic forms into a painted piece. Simon strives to capture and hold the viewers’ attention and ultimately create dialogue between himself and the audience. Identifying and highlighting particular elements of his subject matter that would otherwise be overlooked.

Simon has recently been awarded the ‘People’s Choice Award’ in the Brisbane Portrait Prize Salon des Refusés and the winner of the 'Emerging Artist Award’ for the Mission to Seafarers Maritime Art Prize in Victoria - whilst putting together a series of new paintings.
