Art consultation · For collectors and first-time buyers

Buy the work.

For collectors building something considered, and for first-time buyers who want to start well. We advise on what to acquire, source work across the market, and stand behind every piece with provenance and a certificate. The work comes first.

The service

An eye, on your side of the table.

Most people buy art the hard way. A fair, a scroll, a wall of options and no one to tell you which one is actually good. The result is a piece bought on impulse, or no piece at all.

A consultation puts a working gallery's eye on your side. We have spent nearly a decade selecting work, placing it, and watching how it holds over time. We bring that judgement to what you are trying to build, whether that is a first acquisition or a collection extended over years.

We advise on the work itself. What is good, what will last, what is worth the money. Where it ends up hanging is a separate question, and one we are happy to answer, but it is not where we start. We start with the art.

Who it's for

Four ways people work with us.

01

First-time buyers

Buying your first serious piece without the intimidation. We explain what you are looking at, why it holds value, and how to start a collection you will still be glad of in ten years.

02

Established collectors

An independent eye to refine and extend a collection. We advise on what fits, what fills a gap, and when a work is worth stretching for, across primary and secondary markets.

03

Corporate and developers

Acquiring original work for offices, lobbies, and developments. A coherent body of work selected for the building, owned outright or held on the rental program.

04

Sourcing a specific work

You know the artist, or the piece. We find it. Direct from our represented artists, or sourced through the auction and secondary market on your behalf.

How it works

From conversation to wall.

A consultation is a relationship, not a transaction. Most begin with a conversation and continue over years. There is no fee to start.

01 · Conversation

We listen first

What you are drawn to, what you already own, the budget, the ambition. If there is a space, we look at it. If there is not, we start with the art.

02 · Selection

We bring options

A considered shortlist from the gallery and sourced from the wider market. Each one chosen for a reason we can explain, not a wall of choices to sort yourself.

03 · Viewing

You see the work

In the gallery, or on your own wall on approval. Art is decided in person, not on a screen. There is no pressure to take any of it.

04 · Acquisition

We handle the rest

Provenance, certificate of authenticity, payment, delivery, and installation. The piece arrives documented and hung. The relationship continues.

What we advise on

The full acquisition, handled.

Acquisition

Choosing the right work for the right reasons. Quality, condition, significance, and price. We tell you when something is worth it and when it is not.

Collection building

A collection with a thread running through it, built over time. We help you acquire with coherence rather than one piece at a time with no through-line.

Sourcing

Across our represented artists, the wider Australian and Indigenous market, and international work. When a piece sits in the secondary market, we source it through auction on your behalf.

Provenance and authenticity

Every work we place carries documented provenance and a certificate of authenticity. You know what you own and where it came from.

Why work with the gallery

An eye worth borrowing.

Independent advice

We advise on the work, not a sales target. If the right piece for you is not one of ours, we say so and source it.

Real access

Direct relationships with our represented artists, plus sourcing across the auction and secondary market for work we do not hold.

Nearly a decade in

Years of selecting, placing, and standing behind work in Sydney. The eye is trained and the relationships are real.

Documented, always

Provenance and a certificate of authenticity with every piece. Acquisition handled end to end, including delivery and install.

A sense of the range

What you would be looking at.

From senior Indigenous painters to international names and emerging Australian work. A consultation draws on all of it. A few examples of the calibre we place.

Questions

Before you book.

No. An initial consultation is complimentary. For sourcing work from the secondary market or managing a larger acquisition, any fee is agreed in advance and in writing before we begin.
Not at all. A good share of the people we work with are buying their first serious piece. The point of the service is to give you a trained eye to lean on, whatever stage you are at.
Often, yes. For our represented artists we can go direct. For work held elsewhere, we source through the auction and secondary market on your behalf. Tell us what you are after and we will tell you honestly whether we can find it.
We advise on quality, significance, and value, which is what holds over time. We are art dealers, not financial advisors, so we do not give investment or financial advice or promise returns. We help you buy good work at a fair price.
Yes. We arrange delivery and installation, and can advise on hanging, lighting, and placement through our art styling service. We can also point you to the right people for framing, valuation, and insurance.
Regularly. We work alongside designers and architects on residential and commercial projects, handling the art while they handle the room. Contact us with the project and we will find the right way in.
