Andrew Farmer is a contemporary abstract artist working between geometry, materiality and perception through the medium of resin on mirrored surfaces.
Originally from the United Kingdom and now a naturalised Australian, Andrew brings an unconventional trajectory to contemporary practice, transitioning to full-time art after a successful career in professional services and earlier service in the Royal Air Force. This diverse background informs a disciplined studio methodology grounded in precision, structure and measured experimentation.
Andrew’s works are characterised by luminous geometric forms suspended within layers of transparent resin on reflective aluminium and acrylic surfaces. Through the interaction of colour, light and mirrored space, each composition remains visually fluid shifting in response to movement, environment and changing perspective. The viewer becomes an active presence within the work, implicated in its continual transformation.
Drawing from traditions of hard-edge abstraction, Minimalism and optical spatial enquiry, Andrew reinterprets geometric language through a distinctly contemporary material sensibility. His practice examines balance, tension and clarity while challenging conventional assumptions surrounding resin as a fine art medium.
Despite entering the art world comparatively recently, Andrew’s work has achieved notable momentum, with exhibitions across Europe and Australia.
Through an increasingly refined visual language, Andrew continues to produce architecturally resonant works that sit at the intersection of painting, object and installation.
