Matt Cauchi.
Matthew Cauchi is a Sydney based Mixed Media abstract artist whose paintings are tactfully layered to reveal an acute balance between minimalism, Fauvism and Abstract Expressionism. His approach, which oscillates between his considered use of layers and textures, reveal windows of intense, tactile hues. Cauchi's aim is that each purposeful composition achieves a considered balance between beauty and chaos.
Using intuition and improvisation, Cauchi carefully layers materials, including acrylic, enamel, aerosol, oil and plaster. Each finished work intentionally conceals much of its underlying surfaces. Cauchi simultaneously builds a visual language that appears reminiscent of histories within urban environments and encourages the viewer to look beyond the final composition and question what may lie beneath. His works are highly collectible in their ability to integrate seamlessly within existing surroundings and designed interiors.
