 Syncopation is a musical term to describe the accenting of a note that is usually not
accented … simply put, the placement of rhythmic stress where it wouldn’t normally occur.
Many people believe syncopation is a relatively new musical concept, heard particularly in jazz. But J.S. Bach and Antonio Vivaldi were using syncopation in their baroque compositions in the 18th century.
