'A Pet Project' by Theresa Lee
"I am a keen amateur photographer and my love of dog photography is very much inspired by the late American photographer, Elliott Erwitt. His distinctive and unobtrusive style of capturing dogs candidly in black and white resonates deeply with my love of the quirky shot.
I was inspired to create this exhibition to share the joy of dogs and my love of photography.
‘A Pet Project’ has been a decade in the making and very much a
collaboration. Being out and about walking Rex, our Cavoodle, is how I have come to know so many dog loving people living in and around Pyrmont.
I invite you to come along to this exhibition themed, “In the Name of Love” and see the world from a dog’s perspective. All of the photographs are in black and white, taking us deeper beyond the familiar world of colour into the unspoken language of light itself. This exhibition is dedicated to my late husband Stephen who passed away in 2023. Throughout Stephen’s life his love of dogs never waivered.
In keeping with the theme, I have chosen to support Sydney Dogs & Cats Home - Sydney’s only charity pound. Every year, they care for thousands of lost, abandoned, and neglected pets, providing them with love, safety, and the chance to be reunited, rehomed, or rehabilitated.
By donating through this exhibition, you’ll be helping pets in need find their own stories of love and belonging."
Opening Night: 6-8pm 29th October // Meet the Artist: 1st November
