“Mouthpiece” explores the expressive power of the human mouth—isolated, enlarged, and reimagined.
During my early training in classical clay modelling, we would often study individual facial features to better understand form and anatomy.
This sculpture revisits that tradition, but pushes it into the contemporary by magnifying the lips to a scale that commands presence and personality.
Cast in a refined studio resin, this work embraces a modern sculptural language—lightweight, detailed, and responsive to both shadow and surface.
Resin is a chosen medium, offering a different kind of permanence and accessibility while preserving the integrity of form.

Statement regarding cold cast bronze :

Mouthpiece isolates and enlarges one of the most expressive parts of the human face: the lips.
Rooted in classical clay modelling techniques—where sculptors often study features in isolation—this piece transforms a traditional exercise into a bold, contemporary gesture.
This edition is made using cold cast bronze: a composite of bronze powder and resin that allows for rich metallic surfaces and sculptural precision while remaining lighter and more accessible than foundry-cast bronze.
The technique preserves the tactile depth and authority of metal, bridging the classical and the modern in both form and material.
