Margaret Dimoff.

Margaret, graduated from ANU in Ceramics in 1983 and Sculpture in 1992. Margaret forged a successful career in these fields but turned to painting in the 1990s and now applies all her energies to painting.

Margaret Dimoff paints predominately abstract works mostly using acrylic and mixed media on canvas or paper. Her work is particularly suited to large scale canvases with her works on paper of a smaller scale. Margaret has focused in recent times on large scale canvases.

Margaret has an affinity with natural tones and the more subtle colour ranges using texture and layering to create form and substance.

Each work is a new experience and remains in the studio for many weeks or months until a resolution is gained. The surface may be reworked many times before it reaches its conclusion. Despite the sometimes labour intensive approach, the work remains fresh, vibrant and emotive. The images are complex but subtle, strong yet at times delicate and rarely fail in achieving a satisfying level of sophistication.
